about

I found yoga as a way to heal.

Yoga became a more integral part of my life after experiences with severe depression and anxiety forced me to re-evaluate my mind-body connection through yoga. Yoga is now viewed as tool that I can steadfastly rely on through times of ease and challenge. My teachings are rooted in accessibility, sustainability, exploration, and self-inquiry, while fostering a community through yoga that honors the BIPOC experience. I am an E-RYT 500 having led teacher trainings, workshops, and mentorships and continue to actively study and learn from my teacher Jason Crandell. I have also has studied with the creator of restorative yoga, Judith Hanson Lasater, and teach restorative and yin practices as well.

Outside of yoga, I have a huge fascination with language and hold a Master's in Linguistics from the University of Hawai`i at Mānoa. My life can be summarized into five words: yoga, language, cats, music, and carbs. I’m also a DJ and manage the Blanq Slate collective.

My classes encourage you to feel your body, with an emphasis on using your breath to feel every inch. I believe in breaking down movements of the body so that students understand the asana fully: the function, the benefit, and how it can be sustainable for years to come. As a bonus, you will also be exposed to my (bad) humor.

My teaching philosophy:

Breath is a guide, movement as medicine.

I believe that yoga is a gateway into reclaiming the mind-body connection that is often lost through busy lifestyles, trauma, stress, and other demands of life. Aside from a physical practice, yoga helps you discover how resilient you really are, be that mentally, spiritually, or emotionally. Accessibility is incredibly important to me as I have lived with spinal issues growing up, and I aim to reflect that in my teaching. I provide an intelligent sequence that makes sense within the body while breaking down elements of the practice.

See you on your mat!
